WEO

22765 Hamburg

WEO was developed by Milanese architect Antonio Citterio together with FLUMDESIGN as a response to urban planning requirements and the needs of future users. The district, designed in the Gründerzeit style, was built in 2007 on the site of a former fish-smoking factory and blends harmoniously into its surroundings.

A defining feature is the mix of residential and commercial spaces, reflecting the diversity of Ottensen. The nine buildings were constructed in a combination of perimeter block and courtyard development, each with individually designed façades. Decorative elements such as ornaments, arcades, niches and loggias create vibrancy and give each building its own identity.

A central highlight is the high-quality courtyard with atriums, fountains and lighting installations, creating a modern atmosphere that invites people to linger and offers a high level of comfort.
